Does the Bible Really Say the Earth Will Be Destroyed? The claim is sometimes made that the Bible never teaches that the earth will be destroyed. According to this interpretation, biblical language concerning cosmic destruction supposedly refers only to the fall of governments, the end of the Mosaic covenant, the destruction of Jerusalem, or the removal of sinful human institutions. That claim cannot withstand the cumulative testimony of Scripture.
